Not all smoothies are created equal: tips for making your smoothie work for you.

While we all probably agree smoothies are the easiest meal to make, judging from the thousands of recipes available from just one Google search, it's hard to know which smoothie is right for you.   The great thing  is that you can easily control the ingredients in a smoothie and understanding how certain foods make you feel such as too much fiber giving you a bloated belly and not enough healthy fats leaving you hungry in 30 minutes.  Understanding these elements  can be your key to unlocking the secret of using the right kind of smoothie to help combat cravings for sugar and fatty foods throughout the day.

Meet the Juice +Blend technique.  Rather than blending all the ingredients at the same time you will first juice most of your key ingredients and then add in healthy fats containing medium chain fatty acids to fire up your brain and protein rich super-foods to keep your body fueled for a few hours.  Try this for a couple of days (preferably in the morning on an empty stomach) and cultivate body awareness around how the smoothie makes you feel - energized, more satiated throughout the day, less cravings and ultimately gravitation towards healthier foods.  

"Cravings Buster"

Juice the following:
1 Apple
1/4 Pineapple
1/2 Cucumber
1 lime 
1 broccoli stem

1 handful cilantro

1 handful spinach

Pour into Blender  and add the following:

1/4 Avocado, 1 tsp chia seeds, 1 tsp hemp seeds, 1 tsp plain hemp protein powder, 1 tsp flax oil, 1 tsp bee pollen, sprinkle of cinnamon
